I Hope this Email Finds You is an entry into my Corporate Lingo line.

If you have spent any time in corporate America, you have heard the line "I Hope this Email Finds you Well" at the beginning of an email. I was motivated to make this piece because there are times when being inundated with emails feels like you are being attacked. Or maybe, you are trying to get answers from someone and it feels like you have to "hunt" them down. Either way, this was another common slang that I found interesting to dissect.

When I visited Germany, I went to the gems and jewels capital of Europe. My husband had just proposed to me and as an engagement gift, his family in Germany bought us an amethyst geode. They had a special device there for cracking the geodes open. We cracked it open to reveal the beautiful purple jewels within.

I was inspired to create this piece, Open Up, as a result of that experience. I added the element of the mirror since the thing we should always be opening up is ourselves. When you look into the amethyst mirror and see yourself, you can think of the gorgeous gems within.

Let's Connect Offline is an entry into my Corporate Slang line.

You will hear this line often in a zoom meeting when someone is being called out. Hearing this directed at you can feel threatening. Ultimately, I felt that this line means that you need to get on the same wavelength with someone. Using the same skull motif as my other pieces, I used wave sign imagery to connect them.

I have always had a fascination with strange encounters with cryptids and aliens. I made this as a fun homage to the classic cow abduction.

I was feeling a bit whimsical and I love mushrooms so this one made sense. I also had just been gifted a medium pile tufted gun and wanted to play with texture. The dome or red part of the mushroom sticks out and I carved it to be gently rounded. It was a fun technical challenge.

Before I was a rug maker, I was an acrylic painter. At one point, I made a line of paintings incorporating the classic geometric lines we see in a lot of 70s commercial art. One of my first pieces in that line was the five winds, and for a while it became my logo. When I switched to rug making, it only made sense that one of my first pieces would be a recreation of that painting. I added the mirror element as a way to reflect on myself and how far I have come in my art journey and how I was just embarking on the next adventure.

This was the first entry into my corporate lingo series. I always found piggybacking off that to be one of the more grating of the things you'd hear repeated in meetings. Often times, it meant someone was about to repeat what you just said and take credit for the idea.

I decided that the imagery needed to include multiple skulls, because of that sort of soulless feeling, and they should be on top of each other, like piggybacking. I played with the idea of a 3D glasses sort of look and incorporated that into the rug and custom made frame.

The frame was an interesting challenge in itself because I used a nice peice of plywood, stained with the darkest stain I could find and then glued on the edge piece carefully before painting them. One of my favorite pieces!

This is another entry into the corporate lingo line. I always felt like the "Thank God It's Friday" line that you hear repeated by everyone in the office to be so weird. Sort of like a zombie hoard just following the social norm of being glad it was Friday. Living for the weekend is a way of life in corporate America.

I had just got my High-pile tufting gun and wanted to play with some different textures, so I made the eyes pop out like there was light shining through. It was a very fun project.

I have lived in Spokane for about 7 years now and I have always really enjoyed the different areas and districts around the city. One of my favorite spots is the Riverfront Park. Though the pavilion is a obvious choice for a landmark in the park, I always liked the clocktower. I was very happy when I heard that news that the clocktower would be doing hourly tunes now. I felt inspired to create something to honor it. At the time, it was my most detailed piece, using the most colors of yarn and requiring intricate carving.

I made this rug as a gift to one of my closest friends. She loves tigers and I wanted to play a bit with texture in this one, so I made the cheeks slightly raised with my medium pile gun and rounded them out with carving.

My brother's fiance announced her new baby's name, and I got to work for this nursery room rug. They were going for a Winnie the Pooh theme, so I used some forest colors and used my high pile gun to make grass around the edge. I smoothed everything out with carving.
